New Deal Art: A farm in winter

Above: This oil painting was created by Henry Carter Johnson (1908-1996), while he was in the WPA's Federal Art Project, 1939. According to the Henry Ford Museum, Johnson went on to serve in World War II and then became a well-known photographer and glass artist in Michigan.
