A New Deal Winter & Christmas: Paychecks by sled

Above: This photo was taken in Maine, ca. 1935-1943, and shows the delivery of WPA paychecks by a dog sled team. How many cold winters were warmed, and how many holiday seasons were brightened, by the various work-relief programs of the New Deal? Thanks to the forward-thinking of the New Deal, millions of men and women could build up the nation, and then buy Christmas presents and Christmas dinners for their families - with their hard-earned paychecks.
